About The Neurodiverse Museum

Museum education is for everyone

Unfortunately, not every learner’s access needs are being met

According to a 2024 survey of readers, ADDitude magazine found that 54% of their audience did not believe museums were well-equipped to meet the needs of neurodivergent visitors. Institutionalized ableism, social stigma, and a lack of education for educators prevents museum education from reaching its full potential as a resource for neurodiverse populations.

Let’s change that

As part of the requirements for the completion of her Masters of Museum Education degree at Seton Hall University, Elaine L. Davis created this guide for museum educators. It is a guide to the best practices for adapting museum education for the needs of people of all ages who have learning disabilities, including those not often thought of as learning disabilities.
